Application for the role of Regional Commissioner, South West Region Scouts

Do you have the drive, passion, and the skills to lead Scouting in South West Region?  

We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to take on the role of Regional Commissioner in South West Region. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to build on the existing strengths within the Region and take the Region forward.

As Regional Commissioner you will provide strategic leadership across the Region. The Region is a mixture of urban and rural areas and there are several parts of the Region which fall into the 20% most deprived areas of Scotland. The Region covers the Council areas of North, East and South Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway. There are 5 Districts, North Ayrshire and Arran, Ayrshire East, Kyle and Carrick, Dumfriesshire, and Galloway. The Ayrshire Districts are coterminous with the local authority areas.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the Region is run effectively, and that Scouting in South West Scotland develops in line with the rules and policies of The Scout Association. You will also be responsible for supporting a positive Scouting experience for thousands of young people and adult leaders in the Region and promoting Scouts to the wider world. In January 2020 membership of the Region stood at 3,644, made up of 2,847 young people and 797 adults. A strong Regional Team is currently in place to support the Regional Commissioner.
